On 28-29 May 2010 Armenian Institute for Development together with its partner American Bar Association (ABA/ROLI) Armenian office has passed a two-day training on topic for about 25 advocates. Training was particularly devoted to Article 3 and 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as to some questions concerning just satisfaction claims. Half of the participants were selected from the Public defender's office (Chamber of Advocates of RA). Training was held in Aghveran of Kotayq region.

This kind of events have the aim of constant training of Armenian lawyers and raising of their theoretical and practical knowledge as regards of the ECHR standards and the case-law of Strasbourg Court. The trainers of the training were Natalia Kravchuk, Dina Vedernikova and Ara Ghazaryan. During the first day of the training Natalia Kravchuk has first presented the theoretical aspect of Article 3 of the ECHR, after which participants had an opportunity of asking questions to the lecturer. The presentation of Natalia Kravchuk was then continued by Ara Ghazaryan who has presented much interested topic of just satisfaction claims. Ara Ghazaryan has stopped in detail on such topics as concept of just satisfaction, pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage, as well as on costs and expenses. Presentation of the lecturer was backed by the examples brought from the cases that were hold by the ECtHR regarding Armenia. The first day of training was closed by the presentation of Natalia Kravchuk on typical Article 3 + Article 13 of the ECHR violations in Armenia.

 
The second day was mainly devoted to practical exercise during which participants were introduced with an exercise on Article 3 of the ECHR. Participants had first read the facts of cases and then were divided to three groups. They had a task of reaching conclusion in these cases, i.e. what possible outcome can be reported in the concrete case. After deliberating each of the group reported back their decision.
 
The objective of this training was to provide a series of discussions in which public defenders and network advocates can be trained on the ECHR, engage in discussion, networking, to help participants to develop strategies for their cases and develop plans for raising public consciousness, promoting legislation and developing plans for assisting clients.
