 Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation - Armenia (OSIAFA)

The Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation - Armenia (OSIAFA) was established in 1997 to assist democratic transformations and promote the values of an open society, the one characterized by rule of law, democratically elected government, respect for minorities and their rights, vigorous civil society. Towards this end, the OSIAFA has been supporting numerous projects and activities in the field of civil society, law, education, mass media, information, including publishing, electronic communication, support for libraries, public health, women's rights, arts and culture. Like all other Soros foundation throughout the world, the OSIAFA seeks to collaborate and partner with other international organizations, local NGOs and governmental structures in implementation of its projects in order to ensure the efficiency and consistence of its operations.

In consistence with its mandate for long-term and sustainable impact, the OSIAFA strives to build up institutional capacities of local organizations. The mechanism of institutional grants introduced by the Foundation in 1999 helped a number of carefully selected Armenian NGOs to become long-term implementing partners of the Foundation and assume leadership roles in promoting democratic ideas and practices.  Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC)

The Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC) is a non-governmental organization located in the Hague and whose main objectives are: a) the promotion of the international and social legal order in order to facilitate the complete realization of human rights; b) Strengthening and supporting the activities of international and national governmental and non-governmental organizations which promote the objectives mentioned under a, including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that focusing on conflict prevention and the promotion of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.

The NHC implements the following activities: a) Research and monitoring, b) Public relations and lobbying, and c) Projects.

The NHC co-operates with a number of partners in the Netherlands as well as in Central and Eastern Europe, such as the Council of Europe, NGOs, organizations representing legal professionals, Ministries and others. More about NHC...


 The International Centre for the legal protection of human rights (Interights)

INTERIGHTS is a UK-registered charity established in 1982. It aims to enforce human rights through law, providing protection and redress, in particular regions and on issues of strategic focus; to strengthen human rights jurisprudence and mechanisms through the use of international and comparative law; and to empower legal partners and promote their effective use of law to protect human rights. It supports lawyers, judges, NGOs and victims on the ground by tailoring activities in response to the needs of each group and region. It works across the developing and developed world, with regional programmes in Africa, Europe, South Asia and the Commonwealth, and cross-cutting thematic programmes focusing on equality, liberty and security and economic, social and cultural rights.   Bar Association of the Republic of Armenia (BARA)

Bar Association of the Republic of Armenia (BARA) is established in 1989 as a non-governmental organization. The objective of BARA is, inter alia, to promote the development of the legal system of Armenia, the improvement of legislation and exercise of law, to assist the establishment of the rule of law, to assist in the rendering of legal services to the public, the protection of human rights, to aid the development of legal education and research in the field of legal sciences. In 1997 a reformation of the association took place, whereas the Charter and management of the organization were changed and the number of its members has drastically increased; currently it has more than 800 members.
